How to get to a race without a car: Pulse transfers

The easiest way to reach a race without a car is a transfer from the airport or train station: you land or step off the train and get driven to your hotel and the start. After the finish, you ride back instead of driving on tired legs.

Why getting to a race is tiring too

When a race is far from home, getting there becomes part of the challenge: train timetables, a hire car, a car park you do not know and a venue that is often outside the town centre. None of it is racing, yet all of it drains energy and attention.

Spartan advises arriving 90 minutes before your start time to park, pick up your packet, check your bag and warm up. Spend part of that buffer circling for a space and you reach your wave in a hurry.

How to reach the start on race morning without stress

Public transport is rarely built around an early start at a venue on the edge of town. One delay or a thin weekend service can leave you short of time.

  • Check your wave time the night before: it is in your confirmation email and your account.
  • Work backwards from that time and leave room for the unexpected.
  • Keep your ID and registration barcode handy, not at the bottom of your bag.

Should you drive home after a race?

After a Beast or a DEKA FIT your legs are heavy, you may be soaked and your head is still on the course. That is not the moment to drive an unfamiliar road. With a transfer you sit down, switch off and reach your hotel or the station without thinking about it.

How to plan your arrival at a race

Before you book a ticket, check where the start is in relation to the nearest airport or station and which day suits you best. If you are doing a Trifecta weekend or racing early, arriving the day before takes the pressure off. Once your flight or train times are fixed, the transfer is arranged around them.

Race transfer FAQ

  • Where does the transfer leave from?

From the airport or train station serving each race, for example Alicante-Elche airport for DEKA Alicante or Barcelona-El Prat and Toulouse for Spartan Andorra. Each race guide lists its pick-up points. [Confirm exact points per race.]

  • Is it included in my pack?

In the Essential pack it is optional and you add it when booking. In the Total pack, [confirm whether included or optional]. Either way, it covers the ride from the race’s airport or station to your hotel and the start area, and back.

  • Does it take me to the start on race day?

Yes. The transfer covers both your hotel and the start area, so you do not need to find parking or rely on public transport on race morning. Spartan advises arriving 90 minutes before your start, and a transfer keeps that buffer for your warm-up.

  • What if my flight or train is late?

    [Confirm the delay policy.]

  • Can I bring my race bag?

    [Confirm luggage allowance.]
